DOC053 In keeping with Liverpool's status as European City of Culture in 2008 we celebrated one of its landmarks, Eric's, a club which re-established Merseyside as the UK's musical epicentre at the end of the 1970s . Just as the Cavern had played party host to the 60's, Eric's has earnt its place in rock n roll history as its angsty younger brother. With the Bunnymen, Wah,OMD and the Teardrop Explodes Eric's witnessed the birth of a whole new Liverpool music scene. The Story of Eric's was broadcast at 7pm on Sat May 31st on BBC R2.
