| “A new way of telling rock n roll stories.” At Document Productions Ltd we aim to use our experience in the fields of TV, DVD and Radio production, Music Journalism and Film/Video Direction to create the most versatile music production outfit in the UK.
Over the past five years we’ve produced countless programmes for both radio and TV, made plenty of long and short form DVDs, ( a few of which have enjoyed cinema runs en route to the high street), not to mention the odd art installation, some audio books and of course lots of online content.
So who are we? Well, at the heart of the beast is Danny O’ Connor (formerly of R1’s Lamacq Live / Evening Session, C4’s The White Room and one time editor of GLR), and Karen Craig (SMTV Live, Reading & V festivals). Within the wider family we have experts in every field but they work on a project-to-project basis, so Danny and Karen remain the engine room. |
| And what have we done? Well, as you’ll see from the home page we enjoyed both critical and commercial success with the official Stereophonics long form DVD biography, Rewind. Unveiled in the first half of 2007, it spent a month in cinemas before enjoying a stint at No 1 in the music DVD chart. We’re equally proud of The End of Innocence, our Thrills film, which premiered at the Irish International Film Festival and has been shown on big screens on both sides of the Atlantic. Likewise it’s not often you get to film in Trafalgar Square so turning the cameras on the Chemical Brothers as they brought Central London to a standstill was quite an experience.

| Previous DVD projects have included Jamie Cullum Live at Blenheim Palace and shorts for bands including Coldplay, Feeder, the Charlatans and Placebo. Document also co-produced the DVD version of the biggest selling UK album of 2006, Snow Patrol’s, Eyes Open
In TV land we’ve provided Channel 4 with programmes as diverse as TrocaBrahma, (a celebration of contemporary Brazilian and UK talent), and a SXSW special from Austin, Texas. We’ve also been involved in projects for the network which have featured bands as diverse as the Futureheads, the Mystery Jets, Editors and the Kooks.
For radio, we delivered England’s Still Dreaming - a short series celebrating thirty years of punk - to BBC Radio 2. Over at Radio 1 we’ve produced docs on Snow Patrol and the Leeds-based Dance To The Radio label. Previous R1 docs have included Fire Coming Out of Monkey’s Head (Gorillaz in their own words), The Manager (Ricky Gervais’ guide to music management), Meet Me in the Bathroom - the Story of the Strokes and The Ticking of Clocks – Coldplay in the USA.
Elsewhere on the dial we broadcast a second A Year in the Life series on BBC Radio 5 Live which featured the likes of Robin Gibb and Barry McGuigan talking about a year of their choice. It follows two previous 5 Live series, Rock ‘n’ Roll World Cup and Rock ‘n’ Roll F.A. Cup. We also made a short series for BBC Wales with Howard Marks at the helm. Safe to say, An Audience With Mr Nice, was a blast.
Last but not least we launched a sister company, Document Films Ltd, in order to expand into promo production .Our client list to date includes David Ford, iForward,Russia! the Electric Soft Parade, Goldrush and the Scare. |
